Mexico: Overview
The United Mexican States are bound, on the north by the United States of America, on the east by the Gulf of Mexico and the turquoise waters of Caribbean Sea, on the southeast by Guatemala and Belize and on the west by the Pacific Ocean. Full of History, legends, colour and celebrations, each one of the places that we can visit in this country is an attractive and unforgetable destination.
Climate
The geographycal diversity of Mexico is the reazon for the climatic variation all over the country. While in the coastline you can enjoy a tropical climate, in the inland, it´s mostly desert. The average temperature is between 25º C and 30º C. The hottest months are from May to September (specially in the coast) and the coolest ones are between October and the beggining of May. The rainy season goes from May to October.
Where to go
This country has a wide variety of destinations such as beautiful beaches and islands, breathtaking vestiges of the ancient civilizations and traces from the conquerors’ who walked these lands.
Among the beaches that Mexico offers us we have the beautiful bay of Acapulco, in which its soft waves contrast with the incredible cliff of La Quebrada, chosen by clavaditas and extreme sports’ lovers; Cancun, a beach of white sands washed by the turquoise waters of Caribbean Sea; in whose surroundings we can visit the Mayan Riviera, stay in one of the hotels enclaved in full forest, and then enjoy Playa del Carmen, ideal for practicing acuatic sports. Still in the surrounding areas of Cancun, but getting into the sea, we will find the islands Cozumel, covered with wild vegetation and from which one can observe part of the coral barriers belonging to the Mayan Reef and the Isla Mujeres, full of natural wealths and archaeological vestiges. There also stand out the beaches of Veracruz, famous for its dances, music and its Carnival; Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo where the mountainous chain that surrounds the area seemed to descend to melt with the sea; Huatulco, famous for its nine bays of bluish green waters and diverse landscapes.
On the other hand, Chichén Itzá and Teotihuacan tell us abuot the ancient civilizations and their glorious days. The first one was the capital of the Mayan Empire while Teotihuacan, an old ceremonial centre where men turned into gods, is one of the most important archaeological areas in America and the world.
A little closer to our days are the testimonies of other populations, those that arose in the colonial era. Some of the most important ones are Zacatecas and Puebla, with its Baroque tendency buildings that go back to the sixteen century, they both have been declared World Heritage; Tepotzlán, full with mysticism, magic and tradition; Taxco, the Mexican capital of the silver and Guanajuato, also declared World Heritage and populated of novohispano Baroque buildings.
